Omnilux

Laser Spider Vein Treatment

Hand & Foot PUVA

Patients who require treatment to hands or feet only can use a method referred to as topical PUVA (psoralen plus ultraviolet A light). As in regular PUVA treatment, a broad spectrum of ultraviolet light Type A is used. However, instead of taking a medication before the session, patients apply the psoralen to the treatment area for 30 minutes. A small light unit, with openings for hands or feet, provides light exposure to the affected area while preventing exposure to other parts of the body.

Narrowband UVB

Narrowband Ultraviolet B (UVB) light provides a maximum dose of a light using a small slice of the ultraviolet spectrum. That slice is the most beneficial component of natural sunlight for the treatment of many skin diseases while minimizing its potential side effects.

NB-UVB does not have some of the side effects associated with UVA or broadband ultraviolet devices. The devices we use create the correct UVB without unwanted, damaging rays.

The length of each treatment and the frequency of treatments are different for each patient. A common therapy might require three treatments a week for six weeks, followed by maintenance treatments once or twice a week.

PUVA is a phototherapy that uses a type of medication called Psoralen (P) in combination with exposure to Ultraviolet A (UVA). Psoralens are compounds that are naturally found in many plants.
