The signs of aging tend to sneak up on us, don’t they? Chemical Peels are a great way to refresh your skin and improve your skin’s tone and texture. Chemical peels use AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) and BHAs (Beta Hydroxy Acids) to penetrate the epidermis, the uppermost layer of the skin, where melanin is found. This can help with superficial lines on the face, shallow scarring, and can improve the appearance of pigmentation on the skin. It is a great way to exfoliate and get a fresh, healthy glow. Some redness or pinkness may occur but usually goes away within a few hours after treatment.

At Three Rivers Dermatology, we offer three different SkinMedica chemical peels That vary in strengths and address a variety of skin care concerns.

Dubbed the “Red Carpet Peel,” the Illuminize Peel delivers an instant glow, with little to no downtime. This multi-acid, multi-enzyme peeling solution is suitable for all skin types.

Recommended for first-time chemical peel patients, those with sensitive skin, or those looking for immediate results with little to no downtime.

The most popular offering in the SkinMedica Peel line up. Vitalize can reduce acne scarring, hyperpigmentation and melasma while also improving skin imperfections and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Appropriate for all skin types, the Vitalize Peel uses a unique formula of alpha-hydroxy, beta-hydroxy and retinol solution to provide noticeable results with 2-3 days of mild to moderate peeling. Results can be seen after 1 but is recommended in a series of treatments.

The strongest formulation of the SkinMedica Peels, Rejuvenize targets the deeper layers of the epidermis for enhanced exfoliation. Using a proprietary formulation of salicylic and lactic acid, resorcinol and retinoic acid, Rejuvenize Peel improves moderate to severe skin imperfections due to sun damage, acne scarring and melasma as well as providing noticeable improvement in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles with 2-5 days of moderate peeling.

How much does a Chemical Peel Treatment cost?

A chemical peel treatment starts at $100 per treatment. Typically, a series of three to six chemical peels spaced three to four weeks apart is adequate to achieve most skin care goals. We recommend starting with our 90-Day Peel Challenge which incorporates in-office treatments and at-home skin care products.

How often should I have the treatment?

We recommend having the treatments 3-4 weeks apart. Continued treatments help correct your skin care concerns and also maintain results.

Is there any downytime?

After a chemical peel, it is common to experience some temporary flaking, peeling or scaling, redness and dryness of the skin. Typically, you will experience mild to moderate peeling approximately 2 days after the procedure that lasts 2–3 days.
